In accordance with the 21st Century Cures Act, more detailed information will be provided to patients who access their records through the MyUSAHealth portal.  Patients now will see complete notes from their providers — which will provide a more complete picture of their conditions and their treatment plans — as well as seeing laboratory and radiology results without a time delay.

Patients who have greater access to their medical records often have a better understanding of their conditions and are better able to follow their treatment plans. They also are able to notify the location where they received care if they find an error or omission in their records. However, we encourage patients to keep the following in mind when reviewing their information:

• If you are awaiting results regarding a major medical diagnosis and want to receive your results directly from your provider, you should postpone using the portal until they have contacted you with the results. Postponing use of the portal will ensure you don’t accidentally see the results before your provider has a chance to reach you.
• Keep in mind that only your provider can offer full context and understanding of your test results. Some results may be outside of normal or typical levels, but they may not be a concern for you individually. And if your results do indicate the need for action, your treatment plan will be developed by your provider. Please do not attempt to treat a condition on your own without consulting with your provider.
• Your provider will need time to review your results and develop a treatment plan if necessary. If they have not contacted you within a few days, please call the location where you received care.

Under the Cures Act, adolescents can create their own accounts to access their health information. Parents and guardians using proxy accounts cannot view some health information about adolescents, including medications, problem lists, visit summaries, and confidential visit notes.
